UPCOMING EVENTS 2010
FRIDAY 16TH APRIL : WINE MAN'S BLUFF : GUEST SPEAKERS, WINE AND FOOD FOR £10 PER TICKET
FRIDAY 12TH MARCH : RACE NIGHT : RACE CARDS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE BAR & OFFICE
2010
VALENTINE'S NIGHT : SAT 13TH FEBRUARY
Tess and the team put on another excellent meal and the 40+ gourmets enjoyed it to the full. Slightly disappointing in that we fell 10 short of capacity, but there were other events in the area- they just went to the wrong do!
QUIZ NIGHT : FRI 15TH JANUARY
Inspite of the weather, 11 teams battled it out, suitably fortified by an excellent supper of fish & chips.
A really good night out, well done Social committee!
2009
23RD OCTOBER : CURRY NIGHT
Fully booked and a choice of 3 meat curries plus all the trimmings. Much staggering back to the car park, but no doggy bags.
4TH AUGUST : JUNIOR & FAMILY SOCIAL NIGHT
A new idea and 20 juniors with 13 parents in tow had a great time and every child (and possibly the odd parent) received a prize.
24TH JULY : SENIORS SUPPER
A 32 strong group enjoyed a pleasant evening and excellent food. Pity about the non-Seniors knocking on the patio window for tickets. Your time will come!
18TH JULY : CAPTAINS NIGHT
A great evening, embellished by Dastardly Dave Meredith, who stood in as a very able band member replacement. Evening went on till late and the hordes departed happy and smiling. Makes a welcome change! Well done Skipper and Social Com.
12TH JUNE : POSH SUPPER NIGHT
Everything went to plan and even the weather got into line. A total of 63 dressed to the nines members and guests enjoyed a lovely evening using both the lounge and patio to good effect.
24TH APRIL : SHAKESPEAREAN SUPPER
Not quite as raucous as first planned, no belching and vomiting; but there was a hint of bawdy rustling in the bushes next to the trolley shed. Even Web Spy thought it was a bit cold for that! A good night !
20TH MARCH : RACE NIGHT
The gent from Dursley and his missus arrived with the films and a battered projector and we got under way. Ablely commanded by Derek "Place your bets" Boocock and financial controller Kath, the full house hooted and booed their way through the evening, the highlights being wily Skipper Red Mist Tyrrell owning two winning horses and Kev "The Plumber" Mackenzie splashing out in gay abandon at the rear of the room. Tess provided a delicious up-market ploughmans plate and as far as is known, no immediate bankruptcies were reported.
23RD JANUARY : BURNS NIGHT
Another enjoyable evening with Kenny Corrigan arranging a guest piper and the Diminutive Dwarf, Doc Cross proposing the toast to The Ladies in robust style, but evenly matched by Joan Hunt is reply. Sporrans and scabbards were in evidence, but no blood spilt!
DECEMBER : Christmas Dinners were sold out !
24TH OCTOBER : BLACK COUNTRY NIGHT
With a limit of 60 tickets, the final attendance of 56 was a fair result for the efforts of Jean Bevan although last minute cancellations are frustrating. The Tiggety Group were excellent and allied to the Tess team's steak & kidney pie supper, the evening rolled along beautifuly. As always at Evesham. there were a few special moments, the highlight being Jean's friend Jill, who clearly loves Abba and to get Vic to sing a duet was no mean feat, Jean! Regrettably the Vice -Chairman will be banned for the next two social gatherings, the charge sheet alleged exhibitionism and non conformity to club dress rules, but he will of course appeal, citing enticement and encouragement from other members at his table. Not a pretty sight.
BARBEQUE : 19TH JULY
Went off smoothly as would be expected when organized by the Skipper! He was seen slaving away in the kitchen on the day before the event , skillfully dipping chicken chests into a spicy marinade. Is there no end to his talents. No fights or blood letting to report, disappointing really.
