It has been a second consecutive ‘two match’ week for Evesham Seniors. First, on Wednesday13th June, they hosted Kidderminster, winning the match 5 – 2. Mike Abraham (Capt)/Richard Steel (4&3), Neil Croft/Mike Brumage (4&3), Ian Facer/Ian Wood (5&4) and Bill Dobie/Phil White (2&1) all won, whilst Peter Edmunds/Martin Williams and Dave Hartland/Alan Groves halved their matches.
The away match at the Worcestershire on Friday 15th June was in some ways a sterner test – on the plus side, the beautiful parkland course in the shadow of the Malverns with a splendid, new(ish) clubhouse always make for a very pleasant round of golf but on this occasion heavy showers and the tannoy from the Three Counties Show just over the fence tugged at the concentration. In the event, Evesham went down 3 – 4. Neil Croft/Richard Saville won on the 18th, whilst Mike Whiteford/Peter Edmunds (3&2) were also victorious. Ian Facer/Martin Williams and John Cook/Mike Brumage halved their respective matches. Thus far, Evesham Seniors have yet to win away from home, although two of the losses have been by only a single point. On the other hand, Craycombe Links remain a fortress.
