Seniors v Ombersley 11th July

If Tiger Woods believes that the rough at Royal Lytham is “almost unplayable” he should try Evesham, where waywardness off the tee punished players of both teams during Evesham Seniors’ match against Ombersley on Wednesday 11^h July.  But, all credit to the Evesham greens staff, who have worked wonders despite the non-stop rain, the course is looking fabulous and to date no Seniors’ match or internal competition has had to be rearranged.  In the event, Mike Abraham (Capt)/Bryan Rogers (2&1), Ian Facer/Doug Sharp (2&1), Peter Edmunds/Peter Gilbert (5&4), Dave Hartland/Mike Brumage (4&3) and Geoff Burton/Mike Morris (3&2) all won their matches as Evesham recorded a convincing 5-2 victory.   As always, the match meal afterwards was a convivial affair with the visiting captain delivering one of the funnier – and longer – speeches heard this season.
