On Monday 17th April, one of our members, Derek Jackson, scored a hole in one – at the age of 92. Potentially the oldest golfer to achieve that accolade. The news travelled fast and, via a contact of a contact, the BBC Midlands Today programme came to interview Derek live on air, and to broadcast the weather forecast from Evesham Golf Club.

It was an amazing experience and a great showcase for the club. Thankfully, the weather was fantastic and the course looked fabulous on the TV pictures.
The excitement even extended to the Thursday Fiddle, which was about to do its presentation when the BBC team turned up. Not wishing to miss out on a rare opportunity, Ian Tyrell was dispatched to negotiate…and Shefali agreed to present the prizes. It was great moment in the history of the Fiddle and everyone enjoyed it, even Shefali – we think.
