The Linford Trophy (first competition of 2024) was played on a chilly overcast day with a strong wind. Conditions are improving daily.  Twenty seven golfers took part.

Thank you all for staying till the end to support the days winners. The raffle was won by Ian Baird.  I have two other raffle prizes donated by members, a few more needed to see me through the season. Thank you.

The nearest the pin on the 9th failed to attract a winner. John Richards failed to convince his playing partners that 2″ off the green in the light rough was good enough!

Just to prove it is possible Malcolm Hiscock hit his tee shot off the longer 18th to about 3′ from the pin, for what was a two.

The new competition within a competition the ‘Hidden Holes’ feature proved I think a bit of a success, in that it was won by a lower handicapper. Todays hidden holes, selected by Club Pro Rob, were all the par 3’s.  The winning score for most of the round was 11pts, but Peter Ratledge came through in the dying moments with a huge 14pts . Well done Peter.

The winner of the Linford Trophy was Martin PARR 36pts and £30, 2nd, William DOBIE 35pts and £20, 3rd. Tony EDGWORTH 34pts and £15 and 4th Colin HUSSELL 34pts and £9.25. Congratulations to you all.  Martin I’m informed cycled to and from the course today making it even more impressive. I suppose it goes to show what a good warm up can do to improve your golf!!

Thanks to Seniors Captain Les Giles for presenting the Trophy and prizes.
