On Saturday the 24th of June golfers from the Men’s Section gathered to compete for the June Medal and the Baker Cup. 1st played for in 1909 the Baker Cup is both one of the oldest Medal Cups in the club but also one of its most prestigious. 64 golfers set out for glory in the sunshine with conditions set for positive golf with bouncy fairways and slick greens. The final result was close fought and produced the following results.
Division 2 saw 4 players score an excellent net 71 with the Fairway Ferret Gerry Rickets pipping Alistair McDonald for 2nd place and Alistair securing 3rd. The winner of Division 2 and winning a commemorative medal was John Bacon with a net 70.
Division 1 again saw a close contest. Both Andy Cottrill and Richard Curnock both shoot net 70’s (with Richard once again securing best g24th) with Andy securing 2nd place on CB. However in 1st place wi24thn excellent 69 and winning the Baker Cup 2023 was Pete Stanley.
