Men’s Section Presentation Evening

Forty-six members of the Men’s Section gathered to celebrate the 2023 season and to present the winning competitors with their trophies.

Following a three course meal provided by our new caterer, Shani and her team, the presentations got underway, with a large slice banter from the incoming Captain, Mark New who was the evening’s compere. The trophies were presented by outgoing Captain Paul Sharpe. Andy Cottrill was crowned club champion, also picking up the Ward Becker trophy. Chief amongst the victors was Andrew “Pop” Witts, winning the inaugural Fladbury Links Order of Merit (FLOM). This was achieved by scoring consistently well across all the qualifying competitions…very well done. Other competitors picking up a couple of prizes were Steve Wood (Duc’s Cup & Canada Cup) and Geoff Insall (Veteran’s Cup & Captains Putter). Some winners were not in attendance and are listed below.

The entertainment for the evening, in competition with Mark New, was provided by comedian Ian Richards.

As the evening drew to a close the usual stories of “what-could-have-been” were told over a few more drinks at the bar, along with new resolutions of a better performance next year.
