As the rather disappointing summer gives way to autumn 70 golfers gathered at Evesham Golf Club on Saturday the 2nd of September for the Bill Onion Cup and September Medal. Played as two divisions with the overall best net score securing this much valued trophy scoring was very good with many players managing to break par.
In Division One former Senior’s Captain John Richards secured 4th place with a Net 70, in 3rd was former Club Champion Nick Webb also with a net 70. Runner up with a best of the day gross 77 and a Net 70 was Darren Nightingale with the winner of Division 1 and a Medal was Gavin Griffiths with an excellent 69.
Division Two saw similar good scoring. In 4th place with a Net 70 was Assistant Pro and back 9 specialist Geoff Wellens. In 3rd FLOM contender Tim Hines with a 69, just pipped for 2nd place by Alistair McDonald with a 68.
However the Winner of Division 1 and The Bill Onion Trophy for 2023 was Joe Nightingale with a magnificent Net 65.
In the best tradition of EGC Joe returned to receive his trophy and congratulations of the mob.
Well, done Joe we are sure this will be the 1st of many trophies for you.
